Hello.

One of our customers has a lot of number folders in his mailbox (about 600). Не working with different mailclients through imap-protocol. Sometimes he has following problem. He try to rename/move folder in his mailbox and server returned error “Fatal error: Not a directory” . But in file “courierimapsubscribed” this folder placed correctly as at his mailclient but different as at really set in mailbox.

When and how such changing between “courierimapsubscribed” and really names happens?

Never. The IMAP folder subscription list is just a list of folders that's managed by the IMAP client. Renaming a folder does not affect the list. The IMAP client is responsible for updating the subscription list.

The folder subscription list is not really used for anything else. It's a misdesigned feature of IMAP, one of a number of technical flaws in the protocol.

How can we trace it with single mailbox on big mailbox-server with a lot of customers?

There is no mechanism in place for logging IMAP commands for a specific mailbox only. It's only possible to log all IMAP commands for all IMAP sessions.
