well, that doesn't sound good at all!Is there any other way to enforce softquotas with courier? This works very good, but I have a few users who report a quota problem. Looking at their maildirsize file I found e.g. this:1073741824S 367 1 -49472 -2I cannot pin down what the users did, because they don't know it themselfs. :/ Some say they deleted a large amount of mails prior to the problem. Can anyone explain this? It's possible, though rare, that there will be occasional quota miscalculations -- especially with NFS. This is factored into the overall design, and it will correct itself after some time.
You should explore NFS-related tuning and configuration parameters that relate to locking. Over the past decade, a lot of ink has been spilled on the subject of getting NFS properly configured to support application that require atomic file updates and/or locking. The exact steps required to improve resiliency in this area are highly variable and depend on the versions of NFS clients and software you're using, and you're better off researching your specific NFS configuration, rather than blindly following some random bit of advice that may or may not be applicable to your specific NFS environment.
