Can someone clarify how Courier deals with DNS lookups from hosted domains, and whether there is some configuration change we haven't done properly, or is the observed behaviour expected?
The domain is looked up in DNS. That's it. There's nothing else to say. The BOFHCHECKDNS setting requires that the sender's domain resolves via DNS. It does not matter if the domain is also listed in some other configuration file, or not.
