I don't understand why anyone who would take the time to migrate to
Courier wouldn't also take the time to migrate their existing virtual
mail support into Courier as well. Using vpopmail with Courier is like
tits on a bull! Courier has a variety of very excellent ways to support
virtual mail natively, and vpopmail, as a separate system is totally
unnecessary.

On my servers, all my virtual mail accounts are owned by vmail, the
virtual mail user, and hooked into courier via a authmysqlrc and a query
provided in MYSQL_SELECT_CLAUSE. This provides POP3, IMAP,
authenticated SMTP and mail delivery agent support for virtual
mailboxes. It's very simple and works flawlessly.
