You simply need to add "authpam" to the "authmodulelist=" list in
courier-authlib's 'authdaemonrc' file.  (libauthpam.so should be installed as
part of the basic courier-authlib package.  But you might want to verify that as
well.)  Assuming pam is setup on your system, that will allow courier-authlib to
verify system users through pam.

You can use the 'authtest' program to verify that it works.  Once you make the
change and restart authdaemond, then you should be able to run 'authtest root'
(or any other system user) and see that it recognizes this user.
