For me it is not realy clear, HOW my "courier-imap-proxy" pass the connections to the courier-imap/mta servers behind it. I have setup the three servers and it was just working... :-/
The proxy retrieves the account's server's name, opens an IMAP connection to the server, and sends the IMAP LOGIN command, passing along the same userid and password that it received. After that point on, it's out of the loop and just proxies data in both directions, between the inbound connection and the proxy connection to the account's server.
What must I change on the mailbox servers courier config?
Well, you have to think of it as setting up two separate servers. One server is configured to use an account database from Postgres, the other server gets configured to use system accounts. If the IMAP proxy server should also receive SMTP mail and format it to the mailbox server, you'll just need aliases set up to forward mail for each account to the right server.
