Hi,

Following on from my other question about 'courier clear all' not working for
me, I have a more general query. Should I disable backscatter suppression when
hosting a courier-mlm mailing list?

The reason I ask is that every time someone tries (unsuccessfully) to spam my
mailing list, the rejection message seems to add it to the backscatter
suppression blacklist, thereby preventing legitimate messages from being placed
on the list.

For example:

At 15:47:
sandra:/var# courier show all

There is nothing on the blacklist (because I just cleared it).

This is what courier-mlm is supposed to do; the list is set to allow subscriber
posting only, so bouncing spam in this manner is good and normal. But, at 15:52:

sandra:/var# courier show all
[email protected]

My list is now blacklisted and the actual users can no longer send to it.

Is there any way of preventing this behaviour? I don't want to simply disable
backscatter suppression because 99% of the time it does exactly what it is
supposed to do and is very useful.

Many thanks
Richard
