All the unsolicited chatter is specified in the RFC? If so, which one?

It appears (to me) that the chatter could be classified as an unsolicited 
response to the CABABILITY command as specified in
courier-imap configuration as "IMAP_CAPABILITY".

After a little more research, I guess I am simply trying to supress that 
unsolicited response until my client issues the
CAPABILITY command.
