I use fetchmail with a short interval, so my server's logfiles get
filled with LOGIN and LOGOUT messages. I'd like to turn them off, but
continue to log "external" (i.e. unauthorized) connection attempts as
well as any problems.

Also these messages contain IP-addresses which is useless for authorized
access.

Maybe there should be a setting to turn of IP-logging generally (except
for rejects maybe). As people start to interpret german privacy laws in
a way that IP-logging is illegal, it might be an issue to administrators.

I had no luck with syslog-ng and know no other filtering logger. Not
sure if syslog-ng can do what I want - anyway, it's not in debian stable
yet.

I don't think it's a good idea to turn off logging completely, either.

Any opinions/ideas?
