Hi all, would anyone on this list be interested in inventing a triple opt-in protocol? If you would participate to such experiment, hit that reply button now!
This opt-in method is for newsletters and mailing lists alike. The idea is that when, say, u...@example.org subscribes to tri...@lists.example.net, the latter notifies example.org servers of the subscription to the relevant message stream. "Triple" refers to the three parties involved. The new protocol would allow both web-based and email-based confirmation, but they can optionally be carried out directly by the subscriber's server, example.org. *Advantage for users* confirm subscription and destination folder with one click. *Advantage for list managers* obtain opt-in evidence, e.g. PGP-signed by the user's server. *Advantage for mail servers* reliably reckon positive domain reputation as opt-in abidance. Yes, it is assumed that those message streams are DKIM signed. As it seems that ESPs are among the early adopters of DKIM, these messages may eventually involve a decent percentage of the mail flow. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nokia and AT&T present the 2010 Calling All Innovators-North America contest Create new apps & games for the Nokia N8 for consumers in U.S. and Canada $10 million total in prizes - $4M cash, 500 devices, nearly $6M in marketing Develop with Nokia Qt SDK, Web Runtime, or Java and Publish to Ovi Store http://p.sf.net/sfu/nokia-dev2dev _______________________________________________ courier-users mailing list courier-users@lists.sourceforge.net Unsubscribe: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/courier-users
