Thanks for you answer Sam, Sam Varshavchik wrote : > Correct. Virtual domain aliases are processed first.
Would be good to have this info in http://www.courier-mta.org/makealiases.html >> - why don't the "@domain.com: user" aliases work as I expect ? > You probably have a .courier-default file in ~user. Correct. Does this affect what users courier sees ? IOW, in which cases does courier answer "User xxx unknown" (regarding the presence of the .courier-default file) ? Is this documented somewhere ? > If you want a virtual domain redirected to an account, and you want to > select which addresses are valid, remove the .courier-default file, and > install .courier-<username> file, for each valid mailbox in the domain. I don't get it, I have : $ cat /etc/courier/aliases/thefreecat john: thefreecat @thefreecat.org: thefreecat $ cat /home/vmail/thefreecat/.courier acco...@otherhost.com $ cat /home/vmail/thefreecat/.courier-default acco...@otherhost.com But only john will have his mail delivered (to thefreecat and thus to acco...@hotherhost.com) For all other accounts, I get "User xxx unknown". john and jim have an account on the server. - I want j...@thefreecat.org to get his mail routed to acco...@otherhost.com - I want j...@thefreecat.org to get his mail delivered locally - I want all other emails to @thefreecat.org delivered to some alias. If I understand correctly, I should have - ~thefreecat/.courier-john containing "acco...@otherhost.com" - ~thefreecat/.courier-jim containing "jim" - ~thefreecat/.courier-??? for the "wildcard" containing "alias" ?
