I haven't seen gnutls linked against nettle before, but that appears to 
be the new default configuration.  I could help you diagnose that 
problem with access to the system, but building a Gentoo system to 
research the problem on my own would probably require more time than I 
have free.

If you'd like to look at this further, see if you can run the tcpd 
process for port 25 under valgrind and then send an email from the iphone.
