If you want a complete courier setup then install the courier-mta package. If you only want the IMAP facility then just install courier-imap. Either of those 2 should install courier-authdaemon and the authlib package. Then if you want a MySQL authlib backend then install courier-authlib-mysql as well. Then if you want SSL add courier-imap-ssl courier-mta-ssl and/or courier-pop-ssl. To answer your question, I think the maildrop package could be used with Exim or Postfix as well.
