The first server accepts mail for the local users and then forwards it to the second server for delivery to the mailboxes. Nothing is forwarded to the second server that should not be accepted. The problem was not with the user, the problem was with the from address that was generated for the bounce. > What should courier do with mail that can't be delivered nor bounced, drop > it? What happened was that the DNS died, so the first server could not contact the 2nd server for delivery. That must have caused a DSN to be generated due to the delay and when that address was undeliverable (as it is for some of our internal server messages), it generated the double-bounce. I don't think I'm going to worry about it much since this is an unusual situation and I cannot find any evidence of a double-bounce being generated any other time in the last month's worth of logs. -- Bowie ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LIMITED TIME SALE - Full Year of Microsoft Training For Just $49.99! 1,500+ hours of tutorials including VisualStudio 2012, Windows 8, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, MVC 4, more.
