Hi.I recently set up a telephone system from german manufacturer AGFEO. This one has the capability to send e-mails when a new call is received on the voicebox. As I also operate a server with courier mta, I just created an account and set it up in the phone system. But mail does not work. In the server log files, I find this one: courieresmtpd: error,relay=[...],msg="535 Authentication required.",cmd: NOOP Am I right that this is because I require authentication (on port 587) and this client does send a NOOP before auth and courier does not accept NOOP unauthenticated. As I really do not understand why this NOOP is sent here, I also do not understand why courier rejects NOOP. NOOP is defined in RFC 5321 as follows: This command does not affect any parameters or previously entered commands. It specifies no action other than that the receiver send a "250 OK" reply. So does courier really kick off the client because of that NOOP?
It doesn't disconnect the client, it just rejects the command. But I agree that this doesn't make a lot of sense, so this will be changed.
