Hey everyone, It has already been a couple of weeks since I promised I would tell you more about our projects, so here it is.
My friend Eric and I are working on Spacekarma, a workspace-sharing community. There is a lot of spare workspace in the world that is not being used to its full potential. We are talking office space (e.g ., empty desks, cubicles, conference rooms), creative space (e.g., dance studios, art galleries, dark rooms) and community space (e.g., school auditoriums & gyms, church basements). And for every empty workspace, there is an entrepreneur, artist or community group out there who could use it to reach their goals. This is where Spacekarma comes in. We are all about bringing workspace providers and seekers together in one happy online community. We allow seekers to search through listings and book their ideal workspace directly from the providers. Providers can choose to lend out their space for free to build up some social karma or monetize it through cash or services ( e.g., a desk in exchange for 5hrs of IT troubleshooting/month). Since we really believe in the Coworking idea, we would like to clearly distinguish Coworking spaces from others. We would also make it one of the search filters and always feature at least one on the home page. The service will be free to start but if we ever decide to charge, the Coworking community will always benefit from a huge discount. Those of you who are interested in participating in our beta, please let me know. You are a very smart bunch and we would really benefit from your feedback. Any idea is welcome. We are also looking for extra RoR help, so if you know anyone, please let me know.
