I was actually referring to the Maps Directory: http://maps.google.com/ig/directory?synd=mpl
On further inspection, this a directory of Mapplets. http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/mapplets/ which seem to require some developer know how. It would be possible to make a Mapplet that would reproduce the map you created by loading the location data from an external xml source.
