I just joined the group and wanted to say hello. My name is David Moffitt, I work as the Creative Director for a small marketing company - we're very virtualized already, with the core business based in NW Montana yet I work out of Rochester, NY and have several contract employees here and elsewhere. Anyhow, in the spirt of the modern / flexible / not-tied-down office I had a long discussion with a few friends after hack-a-thon about a year ago and that turned into my (almost finished) CoWorking space - http://www.coworkingrochester.com (a few photos up of the work-in- progress).
I suppose on one hand I'm going about this backwards - I'm almost done renovating a live/work loft into a coworking space and haven't even finalized what to charge. I'm doing this whole thing both to bring in talent / energy to my life by having people around, but it's also not "charity" work - aka I don't want to make a million dollars doing this but I can't just give it away for free. I'd settled on ~ $10/day or $160/month (presuming you save about 20% for monthly use based on around 20ish work-days a month) - the average cup of coffee in the city is $2-4 (or more if you want something fancy) and most shops frown upon people staying more than a couple hours (lets not get started on how bad most of their wifi is). I wanted to offer a CoffeeShop++ in a sense but to go much further - but I also don't want to alienate people on price. Honestly? I don't really think I will have a problem filling this place with almost exclusively full- timers / anchor desk members but I also don't want to discourage the flow of new people - and I have plans to expand to a new / biiiig location if this takes off as a trial-run. Thoughts? -dm --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Coworking" group.
