Hi, all: Here's a greeting from "the heartland." I live and work in Goshen, IN. Goshen is an hour from Ft Wayne, three hours from both Indianapolis and Chicago. Goshen is a small city of about 30,000, surrounded by rich agricultural land, much of it farmed by Amish and Mennonite farmers. A year ago two families formed a partnership to purchase and renovate a building in the small downtown area for a non-profit organization, Ten Thousand Villages. That renovation is complete, and Ten Thousand Villages occupies the first floor. Now we have almost 3,500 square feet of fairly open space on the second floor. It's an historic building that was renovated in a way that maintained the old charm - refinished wood floors, etc. - while getting new utilities, rest rooms, kitchenette, etc. In a way I feel as though I'm being pushed into coworking by the lack of conventional tenants for the second floor. Just to be perfectly honest. The mortgage for the purchase of the building and the renovations is substantial. There's another sense in which coworking is a concept that perfectly fits the way I've lived my life so far, and that it's a perfect way to meet a real need in this community. We don't have a video or website to introduce us or the space, or even a name, just wanted to send this introduction and say that the conversation here has been extremely helpful as I think about how to proceed with this space. Yours in peace, David Schrock-Shenk **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & more.
