Hello again all, We now have final approval and access to our space to launch our coworking/incubator site in West Texas. It's in Abilene and is associated with Abilene Christian University. We've held one Jelly with good results, we've launched www.abilenestartups.com with help form the guys at Big in Japan, and we now have our location and we're in the very initial stages of building the business model and preparing the space (which is about 90% ready as is). I learned from you guys that the business model would look very different depending on what space we ultimately secured.
Very generally, our space is an updated/re-purposed old house with an addition of offices built on that sits across the street from the university. It will have one large coworking room, one large conference room, one small conference room, one semi-private or quiet coworking room, a telephone booth room, full kitchen, reception area, bank of 12 lockable sets of cabinets, three bathrooms, some cool external space, and 8 offices. 5 or 6 of the offices will be available for lease or will house full-on "incubated" businesses we're going to work with extensively. Our second Jelly at a local coffee shop is coming up soon, and now we're in a rush to create our online footprint. I appreciate Big in Japan, Caroline Collective, and Katydock for providing a lot of thought leadership to us, as well as this entire group. We've got MUCH to learn!! And yes, in addition to coworkers, we're also looking for a few projects/teams to incubate/accelerate, and some of these services can be virtual, so relocation isn't necessarily required.
