Hi All, I'm part of the hive coworking space in Denver and wanted to tap into a broader set of minds, including you to ask about your experiences with individual short and long term disability insurance. For full disclosure this coverage is for my wife who is self-employed. I am not able to roll her into my work plan but her financial and care contributions for me and my daughter are worth alot so I want to protect the family just in case she becomes seriously ill.
Do you have short term or long term disability insurance? Are you happy with your provider? What providers would you recommend? Did you go through a broker to purchase the product? Any thoughts or advice you and impart as you went through the process of selecting short / long term disbaility products? Did you do any online calculations as to the coverage you would need? Can you share a link to a calcualtor you liked?
