Hi, everyone. Just wanted to update you on coworking developments in the Windy City. The ball is starting to roll at long last.
OfficePort is opening a 15,000 sq.-ft. location downtown on State Street. Things really took off for them in Kansas City, and they saw an opportunity—and a depressed real estate market—ripe for expansion here. Right now, they're signing up monthly members, but co-founder Shaul Jolles says he wants to stay flexible on how people want to use the space. Does anyone know if this is the first multi-city coworking enterprise in the US? I know The HUB is quickly establishing locations, but maybe no more than one is currently open? In full disclosure, I'm handling media relations for OfficePort CHI. (The first article on it will be in the Chicago Tribune probably next week.) I'm also a coworking evangelist, raising awareness wherever I go. Please tell any coworking supporters you know in Chicago to check out OfficePort CHI at officeportchi.com or become a Facebook fan to get an invite to the preview party.
