Bay Area coworkers needed for guerilla research project!

Hi there - my name is Leann Petersen, and I've been lurking on this
list for some months as I've been entertaining the idea of starting
some form of coworking in my Victorian mansion in Oakland/Emeryville.

Today, however, I'm reaching out to the group for a different
reason... I make my living as a user experience designer, and I do
research, strategy, and interaction design for websites and
applications. I am currently working on a project aimed at helping
people share ideas and collaborate with others remotely.

I need to do some "guerilla" research and concept testing for this
project, and thought that local Bay Area coworkers would be ideal
participants: you're savvy and vocal, you prize collaboration, and you
work your own hours your own way — apart from but probably still
interdependent with the corporate world. You're also relatively easy
for me to get to!

If you work out of the Bay Area and you'd consider trading ~1.5 hours
of your time for an ever-popular $100 Amazon gift card, please read
THE DETAILS below and drop me a note with your contact info!

Think other folks in your space might be interested in participating?
I need to interview 7-10 folks and would *love* to consolidate my
travels if at all possible. Please feel free to forward this note to
other folks in your Bay Area coworking space.

Thanks in advance to the group for helping me connect with interested
folks! This is going to be a fun little research project and I hope I
can look forward to meeting some of you in person.

Best,

Leann Petersen

THE DETAILS

Where and when would this research take place?
I'd come to you (how easy is that?) and we can schedule a time slot
anywhere between this Friday and next Friday.

What do you get out of it?
You'll get a "thank you" gift card for $100 from Amazon and the
satisfaction of helping shape the future of a new web-based product!

How many participants are needed?
I need 7-10 folks, ideally representing a variety of disciplines/
industries, and balanced across age and gender.

Who is eligible to participate?
It's "guerilla", but we still need to check a few boxes. You should be:
- Local to the Bay Area
- Available for 1.5 hours sometime between this Friday and next Friday.
- 18+ years of age
- Not be employed in advertising or marketing
- Not be affiliated with my client or potential competitors of my
client (I have a list and will screen you individually)
- Willing to sign the usual NDA
- OK with having the interview recorded on video. Video is for design
team reference only and will not be shared for any reason.

What would the research entail?
You'd agree to share about 1.5 hours with me at your place of work.
The time would be organized something like this:

- 10 minutes of set up*
- 20 minute background interview
- 20 minute collaborative design exercise
- 20 minutes of viewing and responding to a simple conceptual prototype
- 15 minutes to wrap up and share final thoughts and impressions

Pretty simple, you get a nice thank you, and it should be fun too!

* We'll need a bit of horizontal or vertical space to spread papers on—
a table or even a out of the way spot of floor will do fine. Depending
on the physical setup in your coworking space, and how much quiet is
revered by others in your space, it could be helpful to have a
separate room, but it is not necessary. I can work with you to ensure
that everyone is happy and comfortable.
