I'm Kathryn Aaker in San Francisco, and we're the Neutral Buoyancy Think Tank, a loose community of 4-6 folks (happen to be developers, but we've had designers and several of us are also musicians) who have been sharing space for about 3 years, in various locations.
We just extended the lease on our awesome Mission office (behind Mission Cliffs), and are looking for a friendly person or two who might be interested in joining us. It's quite relaxed - we each have desks, there's a napping/lunching area, we do our own thing but help each other out if we're stuck or just want to bounce an idea off someone. None of us spend the day on the phone but there's no problem with the odd conference call or pairing session. Someone bikes to Pal's Takeaway every day for lunch. Yum. Beers have been known to happen. The space is great - a 700 sq. foot enclosed office within a larger shared space filled with various folks, a huge wall of windows, and exposed pseudo-industrial ductwork. Dog friendly, bike friendly... kitchenette (all but stove), bathrooms, conference room (reservable or first-come-first-served if not reserved), etc. It's a pretty pro space. The building itself has a security system (alarm and key cards) and our office itself can lock (though we never have.) Drop me a line if you'd like to know more or want to come by and check it out.
