Hi all: I'll take the opportunity as well, as I just joined the group a couple days ago.
I'm Julia (juropel on the Interwebs), a first-year grad student at Carnegie Mellon's School of Design in Pittsburgh, PA. I hail from Philly though, home of fantastic coworking space Indy Hall <http://indyhall.org/> and 2 awesome hackerspaces, Hive76 <http://www.hive76.org/> and The Hacktory<http://twitter.com/#%21/The_Hacktory> . While grad school is my main focus presently, I'm very much a people organizer and believe in the power of community and coworking to make our corners of the world better. My long-term goal is to use design and ICT<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICT>to help organizations that work to improve the quality of life in urban areas. I'm also interesting in promoting holistic literacy (i.e. tech and visual literacy, on top of reading and writing). My thesis work will likely explore one of these 2 areas.
