Hi everyone, My name is Mya and I have a space in Los Angeles which I am interested in using for co-working. It is an art gallery located within the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, called Mastodon Mesa (www.mastodonmesa.com).
The PDC is open 9-5 M-F which are awkward hours for an art gallery, other than on the nights every other month when we have our openings. In addition, I work full-time elsewhere, so am not able to meet the requirements of the art gallery program there, which is to keep the gallery open set hours. So, I found a person on Craigslist who is writing a book, lives in the neighborhood, and is happy to exchange volunteer gallery-sitting for the ability to use the space to write. This is working out great for us both, but the gallery is so large we could easily fit more writers or entrepreneurs (no painting, manufacturing, or other fumes-related stuff). Internet access is available via our next-door neighbors, a design showroom with whom we barter by having one of our artists photograph their product for their website. When I ran across the idea of co-working while reading Tara Hunt's Power of Whuffie book -- I was excited to hear that there was a larger- scale community interested in this type of thing. I'd be interested in hearing from others who think they might be a good fit for the space -- it would have to be a small curated group of co-workers, the situation in the PDZC does not lend itself to an open- door policy. Looking forward to hearing from you! Mya Stark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Coworking" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
