The total stats about total numbers range from 400 to 600 in the world. This number fluctuates based on what people classify as 'coworking' and when it was published. The explosive growth of coworking spots throughout the world in the last 6 to 9 months really makes the number difficult to pin point in real terms. Loosecubes, an online database for coworking spots, currently sets the number at 449 http://loosecubes.com/. This is likely a slightly conservative estimate because they are still growing but right in the ball park. The growth is hard to determine right now but I'll look into it and hopefully get back to you soon.
The first coworking facility is considered to be by Brad Neuburg's Hat Factory in 2005. Here is an article about the brief history and evolution of the movement. It doesn't go into numbers but is interesting about the process and evolution of it all. http://gigaom.com/collaboration/coworking-101-a-brief-history/ On Jan 5, 7:30 am, Colo <[email protected]> wrote: > d I am looking for information on the history and > growth of coworking.
