Hi,

I'm brand new to the group and wanted to say hello! I'm part of an
initiative to create a coworking space in Lowell, Massachusetts. And we
couldn't be more excited. We're just 45 minutes from Boston and the home of
UMass, Lowell and some other very fine learning institutions. There's also
more technology here than some might think. Tucked away here in the
Merrimack Valley and the Greater Lowell area, you'll find Oracle, Cisco,
Intel, IBM, HP, Dell, Xerox, Linux, Seagate, Motorola, Kadient and Avid just
to name a few.

Imagine a laid-back, collaborative work environment, where young software &
game developers, e-commerce pioneers, scientists, engineers, writers,
designers and entrepreneurs of all kinds, merge everyday. It's the ideal
facility where 'startups' are nurtured, encouraged toward sustainable growth
and profitability. Steeped in the spirit of open source and open-minds,
entrepreneurs, freelancers and telecommuters will experience a community of
fun, peer-to-peer mentoring, support and camaraderie.

 . . . Hey, that's what we're striving for!

And as a newbie, here's my question:

In a wonderful story on NPR RADIO, Coworking Offers
Community<http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=122252297>
approx. 1 year ago, STEELCASE, the Furniture Company is said to be *
subsidizing* this great sounding coworking space. Does anyone know more
about this? Who to contact at STEELCASE, etc? Shown below is a
transcript-excerpt from the show itself:

S t e e l c a s e:
" . . . And co-working is not just happening in major cities. *Office
furniture giant Steelcase is subsidizing a co-working cottage* in East Grand
Rapids, Michigan. Members there can tap away on their laptops next to a cozy
fireplace for 100 bucks a month. Organizers say its part community resource,
part social experiment."

Thank you for allowing me to contribute . . . and participate!

Best!
Dave B.
