Hello all! I have been reading the posts on this group for some time and I have been inspired by the stories shared. I wanted to ask some advice regarding a twist on coworking that I have been considering getting started here in Dallas. It seems that most of the coworking spaces here locally in DFW (which are very few by the way) or across the country mainly focus on startups, web dev, architects, ect. but very few offer an experience tailored for the mobile sales worker. I have been a remote employee for most of my 10 years in sales and I can tell you from experience that many of the challenges expressed by other coworkers on this board are very similar to the ones remote sales/ account reps face.
Challenges like: 1. Feeling disconnected (hard to feel like your part of something that is spread over the globe!) 2. Lack of inspirational work space (cubes suck!) 3. Need for a quite space to work/focus (Kids and dogs are great but they dont help you get work done!) 4. Work along side people you would not normally meet/work with (My best ideas have come when talking to someone outside my industry) 5. Meeting with local coworkers in a cool space that doesnt cost an arm and a leg (Coffee shops, restaurant and hotels are not ideal for this but really all that is available normally) Some of the main issues that I am facing when I am map this out in my mind are: 1. Noise (sales people talk - alot) 2. Competition (Most folks are respectful but what about the ones that aren't?) 3. Value (coworking is based on a "better together" type attitude it seems...can that translate into this model?) I know a space like this would be a god send to people like me (2 kids, 1 dog and no real office in the house). Does anyone have thoughts around this? All perspective are welcome! Thanks!
