Hey all! This is my first post on here, but at least it can be a relevant one :).
We're currently using a Rosslare keyfob/keycard system, which tracks in/out times on a per-"key" basis. It was pretty low cost, and stores the tracking information - which can be as simple or as detailed as you'd like - in a SQL database that can be tied in with either the bundled software or, as we've set it up, to save the data to our local server (the system is network-based), which is then accessible through the admin portion of our website (we've shelled out for a static IP through Verizon FiOS) so that our office manager can easily keep track of who's here, when, and what desks are open for daily/weekly/monthly rental. Much like IndyHall in Philly (yo, hometown!) we try to keep thing as personal as possible, but this system saves us hours of time in worrying about how to bill people properly. Plus, it's a nice additional level of security as our storefront doors cannot be opened without one of these keys or being buzzed in by the office manager. The only downside of using the system is if you're a strictly Mac-based shop and aren't interested in some of the more esoteric hoops & hurdles of dealing w/ a 3rd-party SQL database structure or don't have on-site development & IT support - the Rosslare software is currently Windows-only, though most security software seems to fall under this OS limitation. It luckily doesn't effect us as we're militantly platform-agnostic, our on-site servers are Linux & Windows server-based, and we've got everything built out so it can be easily dealt with through most Android OS handsets & tablets (or if you're feeling especially loyal to Apple, which we do not, iOS as well). - Nick Robalik Owner Bitmap Creative Labs www.bitmapnyc.com 718-963-0351 On Thu, Jun 16, 2011 at 4:23 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > Today's Topic Summary > > Group: http://groups.google.com/group/coworking/topics > > - Anyone currently CoWorking in Oshkosh, > WI?<#130978c72065234d_group_thread_0>[1 Update] > - Swipe card system for members <#130978c72065234d_group_thread_1> [3 > Updates] > - Pop-Up/Temporary Coworking Spaces <#130978c72065234d_group_thread_2>[2 > Updates] > - Phone booths <#130978c72065234d_group_thread_3> [1 Update] > - Starting a community when you have a full time > job<#130978c72065234d_group_thread_4>[1 Update] > - How do coworking spaces make money?<#130978c72065234d_group_thread_5>[1 > Update] > > Topic: Anyone currently CoWorking in Oshkosh, > WI?<http://groups.google.com/group/coworking/t/42968b5251d77994> > > Darrel Gilbertson at Qutash <[email protected]> Jun 15 06:28PM -0700 > ^<#130978c72065234d_digest_top> > > Does anyone know of any groups currently coworking in the Oshkosh, WI? > > > > Topic: Swipe card system for > members<http://groups.google.com/group/coworking/t/ce1eaf658dbf67b7> > > Samir Madi <[email protected]> Jun 15 05:42PM -0700 > ^<#130978c72065234d_digest_top> > > We're using Biometrics "Clock In" machine here. > > First time coworkers just register their fingerprints and every week > we take a report for billing.
