We just held our own video contest, with our own prizes, to generate entries to send along to the "I Share My Space" video contest. We brought in a local branding expert to talk about how to "boil your message down" to something simple for your audience to hear (a perennial need for many entrepreneurs). That got people thinking about how to communicate a clear message in only 30 seconds.
We had a local filmmaker/friend of the business, Dan Koff, play "director", and got members to sign up for slots to be filmed. We collected close to two dozen entries to send to the GCUC contest, and to use in our own promotions. What struck me repeatedly, listening to our members speak their piece, was how fantastic it is to be in a business where your customers will gladly tell the world how wonderful it is to use your service. Coworking rocks! For prizes, we gave away a few months of service, some $50 gift cards to the restaurant downstairs, and my favorite, the right to select the "special snack" to be stocked in the kitchen for a week (complete with a sign showing your photo holding your snack of choice). And we paid our director, Dan, with a trip to GCUC, so you may meet him there. Hope this sparks ideas for some of you to get your members in front of the camera!
