Hey guys - Hopefully my name is starting to get more familiar. I am trying to be more active in this group :)
Anyways, I am considering starting a space in my rural town of Idaho Falls, ID. I am looking to create a space and be the first in the marketplace for true community, collaboration, and innovation in a space for all business types. I recently became a semifinalist for Entrepreneurial Idol. It is a startup competition for the state of Idaho and the winning idea, refined concept, and business plan gets a $10,000 grant to start their business. Imagine how far that would go for a new space and some light advertising! Therefore, I need some help from the already successful coworking industry professionals. One of the requirements is to create a true Executive Summary of my concept. Now I know it is hard to squeeze traditional business practices into the innovative market of coworking, but sometimes we have to bend in order to make our dreams and ideas a success. Below are the questions they are asking for and I would love guidance on some, all, or in general on how to succeed when looking for funding. The great thing about this concept is that it is a true incubator for ideas, where no business percentage or equity exchanges hands. I greatly appreciate and respect this group. You know you have a coworking addiction when you stay up late at night watching videos from Indy Hall and Grind :) 1. Business Description (how do you describe, in essence, the idea of coworking in one sentence) 2. Company Background (what is the best way to describe the development of this market. Any thoughts on how to describe the coworking history if I don't have a space) 3. Problem/Solution (the obvious key pains of individuals that do not have a reasonable place to get work done, but how do we quantify them with time and money?) 4. Products/Services (the big thing about this idea is to convey to the investor that the company truly fill an unmet need in the marketplace. The characteristics that set the company apart need to be identified.) 5. Technologies/Special Know-how (are there any sources of technology for the coworking facility that is unique and special. This is a big one, what technology allows this concept to work in the 21st century. My thoughts are collaboration, this google group, pulling connections from across the globe, etc.) 6. Target market (how do you describe targets when entrepreneurs can be anyone?) 7. Competition (this would be the traditional office outfits in the town.) 8. Business Model (what is the best way to convey the message of revenue and success. Bottom line, it has to be a success and profitable.)
