We just attached power strips the bottom the tables and daisy chained them. One
master switch for our large group of tables. Out of sight and mobile for events

I'd like to find ones that are flexible. We have a couple areas where the
tables get moved around quite a bit when we have events and such and it
would be nice if we weren't confined by these poles. The trick is making
it look nice and not just hanging an extension cord from the ceiling. Any
ideas on that sort of thing?

Some office spaces use raised flooring so that power is available every other
grid or something.
Otherwise, I saw an interesting installation @Indie Desk where they have a
re-coilable piece hung from the ceiling structure. I'd imagine something
similar but on a ceiling grid made of unistruts.

The Work Spot in Atlanta actually has extension cords in the retractable
containers hanging from the ceiling - kinda like the thing you see in a machine
shop. They're awesome, and look really cool. When they're not in use, the
cables just zip up out of the way.

One thing you could do is get tables with power that daisy-chains. That
way not all tables are dependent on your one power source....only the first
one is.

We did the hanging auto shop outlets and they have been great. Keeps the floors
clean from cords and we even attached these hangman guys to them so they're
easier to pull down for us shorties http://db.tt/Fxz6M8NV

Jenny, what a great concept - and I love the hangman guys! Do you happen
to have (or can you take) a photo of the space from further back, showing
these guys hanging from the ceiling in multiples (in context of the desks)?

Something I forgot to mention: at our little post404 venture we are VERY
BIG on coworking, and have some general articles planned to cover the
advent. We are also interested in doing profiles on particular spaces, so
if you're interested, let me know! We'll just need a few photos (space,
founders, users, etc) as well as some quotes (either voluntary or in
response to questions).

Looking forward to working with you all,

Randy

Whooohoooo! This is awesome. We've been in a meeting with the landlord
this morning and talked about this very thing. Great to come back to
this conversation. I'm loving the auto shop power cord idea because of
the flexibility in rearranging a room!

Total awesomeness!

Hey Alex, thanks again. The meeting went well. We covered everything
on the one pager but didn't give it to him until the end of the
meeting. if nothing else he really liked us. :-) we're waiting for the
proposal.

So, today we had our second Jelly in two weeks. Only two other people
showed up, a couple, but the conversation was just as invigorating as
last week's. The couple own a store that has additional space for a
yoga room that they thought of using as a networking/meetup
room...coworking, but they just don't know it. Anyway, they offered to
let us use it at no charge. They are a real estate agent and broker.
Since I will be training new agents and he is going to be hiring
agents that could be another win-win situation. We are going to stop
by their store later this week. Now, if we can get everyone to come to
the Jelly on the SAME day that would be awesome. :-)

Looking at the recent entries in the “Free Coworking
Directory<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsBt-syY2tDCdDhjbl8wemh2SXRjbEMxcXozMmF4U0E#gid=0>”

it is apparent that from the last 7 entries 6 come from the USA, and of
those, 5 from California. It remains to be seen whether this is a
coincidence or the start of a stable trend. With now 3 free coworking
offers in Los Angeles with Droplabs (Free Basic Use), kleverdog coworking
(every other Friday) and Indie Desk (every 2nd Monday of the month) we have
a first free coworking capital in California. I hope other cities will
follow this wonderful example and collaborative endeavour.

If you want to know more about free coworking please refer to our resource
page <http://www.coworking-news.de/free-coworking-resources/>.

I really enjoyed Alex's email yesterday about the case against Free
Coworking. If coworking is of value to you, why wouldn't you pay for it?
It obviously has a cost, why would you not reciprocate the owner/providor
for making coworking available?
Adrienne
