The Coworking Wiki Upgrade Project is in high-gear! Last month, we secured a full staff <http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/project/team/>. You can read interviews with the team on the blog<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/blog/>. These staff members and their respective spaces are donating the time to help this project move forward. As a result, we will all benefit from an ongoing system of wiki cultivation and maintenance provided at no cost to the coworking community!
But there’s still a long way to go. What’s Needed Fundraising Thanks to all of our wonderful supporters<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/thankyou/>, we’re only $3,500 from our first fundraising goal! Your contributions directly support outreach efforts, project coordination, and the development of new technologies for an improved coworking directory. Though staff recruitment is complete, *we still need your* *financial support<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/participate/#donate> * in order to keep our contract employees on through the transition that will occur on July 31. If we fail to meet our initial fundraising goal, we will have to slow or halt development efforts, dismiss the coordination staff ahead of schedule, and possibly cancel the directory upgrade. The wiki is still one of the top-returned search results for “coworking.” It represents our values, who we are, and what we’re capable of. The wiki introduces the movement to people who might be completely new to coworking. With your financial support, we can make sure it isn’t letting anyone down. A donation <http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/participate/#donate>in any amount makes a difference. It ensures that the wiki remains a community-owned and operated resource, neutral and available to the general public without external influence. *The more people and spaces there are behind the wiki, the stronger it will be.* Our Progress What’s New With The Team Jeannine, our User Coordinator, is responding to a new crop of wiki editors and contributors. She’s also recruiting volunteers to communicate our efforts to non-English speakers. The Directory Coordinator, Ashley, is working on a list of coworking spaces currently topping more than 1,000 listings worldwide! Sarah and Clarke are welcoming wiki volunteers, identifying their talents and strengths and getting them started on small tasks. Katie has assumed the gargantuan task of keeping us all organized and on track through a master planning document and weekly check-ins. Outreach It’s important that everyone in coworking knows about the wiki. It’s a resource that belongs to all of us, and it has the potential to make everyone’s life a little easier by supplying helpful information, resources, and connections. Every week brings new followers to the blog<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/blog/>and on Twitter <http://twitter.com/coworkingwiki>. The project has received attention from deskmag<http://www.deskmag.com/en/coworking-wiki-movement-455>, Shareable<http://www.shareable.net/blog/help-the-coworking-community-crowdsource-a-better-wiki>, and Cohere<http://coherecommunity.com/blog/we-need-you-to-help-build-a-wicked-awesome-coworking-wiki>. If you’ve got a question about the project, don’t hesitate to contact us<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/contact/> . The Upgrade It’s easy to identify areas for improvement on the wiki. Here’s just a couple we’re working on right now: - Improved site hierarchy - A streamlined homepage - Improved program descriptions for community tools and inter-site collaborations, like the Coworking Visa Get Involved! Want editing privileges? Request them<http://wiki.coworking.info/w/request-access>from Jeannine! See a section you want to manage? Volunteer<http://www.opencoworking.org/coworkingwiki/participate/#volunteer>with Sarah and Clarke!
