I don't see anything wrong with inviting a couple of people over and see how it 
goes. As I said, 250 sq ft is quite small for a couple of people at a time 
without it getting really cramped, but you + one or two other people might be 
better than you being alone. 

That said, if what you're really looking for is community, you might find 
better results from finding a public or semi-public space like a library or 
cafe and periodically work together in space that's less cramped . If it goes 
well, you could work your way up to a larger office. 

Community can be built anywhere, and there are actually quite a few advantages 
of not having a permanent space yet while you're building your community.

The worst that could happen is it stays your current office and everything goes 
back the way that it was. 
The best that could happen is a community grows quickly and you have the 
beginnings of something more!
