I am planning on setting up a coworking space in Barcelona and am looking for some help… I figured that this group was a pretty good place to start! I am searching for collaborators/partners/managers to help me establish this coworking space and collaborative consumption hub. In addition to attracting the usual coworking types a specific focus will be upon attracting and developing companies related to the sharing economy. Maybe you would be interested in getting involved? Or know of others that might be? So who am I??? I am an Australian who has been based in Barcelona for a number of years now. I co-founded a few companies in the tourism field. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of these companies (and am still involved with them) but I now feel a desire to make more of a positive impact upon society. Not so long ago I stumbled across the concepts of coworking (a little slow, I know!) and, having spent many years on the road and working from cafes (yep, you know the story!), I was immediately drawn to the concept. Not long afterwards I came across a TED talk by Rachel Botsman on the collaborative consumption movement and I felt compelled to get involved. So here I am. Barcelona, aside from being an amazing city to live in, offers great business opportunities. In particular, I believe, there is a need and a market for a sizable coworking space and collaborative consumption hub. The space would not only be for those residing in Barcelona but would aim to attract, via a series of special incentives, those involved in the sharing economy in Europe and other parts of the world. Obviously, I have my own ideas for this project. However, these are by no means fixed and you would be fully involved in creation of the vision. Since I am a relative novice when it comes to coworking and collaborative consumption I would be excited about working together with people more experienced and knowledgeable in these fields than myself. We will dream and discuss, plan and build, together. Ideally I am looking for people with experience in owning, managing or working in a cowork space and/or a deep knowledge of the sharing economy. It might be that you have other business interests (maybe you already own a coworking space) but are looking for some new and exciting projects to get involved with. Or maybe you are looking for a new opportunity to fully immerse yourself in. I am flexible with this.
