100% open office spaces are what has led to a growing amount of backlash.
An open office environment with intentions to foster communication and
collaboration was never also intended to have no variety of spaces: a place to
duck into for a private call; a place to get away from your desk; etc.
So please, choose option 2, but not necessarily to separate your desk members,
but to allow for different usage:
meeting rooms
occasional privacy
quiet areas
etc.
