Thanks for the shout out, Ryan :)

I desperately need to update my recommended reading list, but it includes
books, articles, scholarly work, and more: http://dangerouslyawesom
e.com/recommended-reading-for-community-leaders/

It's all evergreen stuff, and I'll add the recommendations from this thread
to it shortly.

There's another "book" that I haven't really talked about here on the list
yet...

Over the summer Adam and I produced and launched a reverse audiobook
called *"The
First Ten."* which dives deep into the process we used to build Indy Hall's
community from scratch back, and how we deploy that process today, ten
years later.

Reverse audiobook? Yep. Instead of writing a book then later narrating it,
we went the other way around: we recorded 20 hours of stories and lessons
in audio format, edited that down to ~10 hours, had it transcribed, and now
we're editing it until a final written resource.

Latest review in my inbox:

*"**Right after listening to your audiobook, I posted to our Facebook group
inviting my community into the process. It's the first time I’ve really put
this next step out to the world (to say your story was an inspiration would
be an understatement). What’s interesting too is that the feedback around
this has been quite positive, with various people showing interested in
getting involved in various ways."*

While it feels good to have this resource out in the world, it's emails
like that one where can take direct action...that's what totally makes my
day!

We put free audio samples of all 11 chapters on the website
<https://www.theindyhallway.com/ten/>, so you can check them out before
buying a copy of the audiobook for yourself :)
