As with all dry erase paint, it performs only as well as how smooth the surface is underneath. Finished plywood should be good enough, but just note that it’s still probably has some texture, divots, knots, etc.
That said, I’m a fan and use it as a standard over drywall as people seem to appreciate more the huge writing surface over the quality of the surface.
