More reasons why the module list is a bad thing

Here's another reason that we need a replacement for the modules list: 
Even the book authors are fooled.  Here's a snippet from the next 
edition of "Professional Perl Programming", which I'm tech editing 
right now:

	The modules list, which contains details of all the modules currently 
held by CPAN and its many
	mirrors is at: http://www.cpan.org/modules/00modlist.long.html.
Of course, the modules list does NOT list everything on CPAN.  It only 
listed 2998 of all 6800 distributions on the CPAN on August 18th.  It 
gives the impression of inclusiveness, when it's only about 40%.
