CPAN.pm does not maintain an internal database of installed modules,
it always looks into @INC and inspects $VERSION for each pm file it
finds.

So if you believe that you have a problem, I'd suggest to investigate
it on a case-by-case basis. Your original posting was not informative
enough to give you an advice.
