Hi Jon, Thanks for your advice. To my surprise it becomes normal now. I did not perform further to correct the problem. I think it was; cpan[1]> o conf urllist push ftp://myurl/ did it for me. However each time running; # perl -MCPAN -e shell perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LANG = "en_US" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.9301) ReadLine support enabled cpan[1]> The annoying warning popup. I'm now googling around for a solution to get it out permanently Stephen > On Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 12:41 AM, Stephen Liu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > Hi folks, > > > > > > Debian Etch > > > > > > On running; > > > > cpan[1]> clean BerkeleyDB > > > > it prompts:- > > ... > > .... > > ftp: myurl: Unknown host > > Not connected. > > Local directory now /root/.cpan/sources/modules > > Not connected. > > Not connected. > > Not connected. > > Not connected. > > Bad luck...
