Thanks all for the reasoned replies. I'm mixing them up in my response below....
> Out of curiosity, are you using CPAN or CPANPLUS? I was using both, if I had any problems installing a module w/CPAN I'd try w/CPANPLUS. Now I'm only using CPAN. I expect to tryout cpanm (cpan-minus) before the year is out. >You don't need to claim a profile. You can create one from scratch >and it will work. We need to update the documentation to make that >clear. Thanks. http://wiki.cpantesters.org/wiki/QuickHowToCT20 is not quite accurate, it says: "1. If you do not already have your CT 2.0 profile file from the beta test, please go to http://metabase.cpantesters.org/claimid/ and enter an email address that you use for CPAN Testers (and that can receive email). Your profile file will be emailed to you." but the claimid page does not mail out profiles. So when you have some documentation on how to create a profile from scratch, that paragraph should point to it. Haven't found any info on making one's on profile on the wiki yet. > Clearly, we need to look into making it easier to auto-generate. I can see my name on http://stats.cpantesters.org/testers.html, might be nice if clicking on my name took me to a page that would email me my profile. Though I suppose that wouldn't help anyone who needs a profile that hadn't sent any reports in the past! And it's what http://metabase.cpantesters.org/claimid/ could do, and you have more important things to do with your limited time & resources. >The email auto-responder from perl.org is only being turned on now to >notify those who haven't yet heard the news (which has been blogged >about extensively, flagged on perlbuzz, etc.) I saw the news about email being turned off for reports on a blog, but I didn't see any concrete steps on how to move forward until I got the auto-responder. Subscribed here when I had trouble getting http submission turned on. >Wouldn't it be better if Test::Reporter would use File transport by >default? That sounds good. Actually my fave would be for Test::Reporter to use http by default, without requiring a profile, though I understand that may be not possible due to technical or policy reasons. >If you wondered why I'm checking email and trying to be helpful while >on vacation this week, it's because I do value the small, individual >tester's reports so much.
