For reference-
The problem with the Report Summary display ended up
being AVG Surf-Shield. It apparently injects something
called avg_ls_dom.js into the DOM which breaks things
in the middle of the response generation. Disabling
the Surf-Shield under the LinkScanner works around the
problem. Thanks for your patience.

As I copied the OpenThought.js from the original distribution, and its
been working for the past few years, I'm more inclined to think the
browser is the problem. Unless the error it reports is in the wrong JS
file.
I use FF 3.6 and Opera 11.01 and it works fine in both.
If you're able to give me a more precise errors with example URLs I can
try and replicate it.
