My guess is that the GD package that you have installed does not have
Truetype support. I really should come up with a way to have Makefile.PL
fail when there is no Truetype available. Since I have no system
with GD, but without Freetype (which supplies the Truetype support)
I did not put this in yet.
My guess is that I need to add something that looks for the stringTTF
method.
Try running this:
perl -MGD -e '$x = GD::Image->new();print $x->can("stringTTF"),"\n";'
My systems output something like:
CODE(0x818e58c)
I assume that if GD does not have compiled-in Truetype support it should
produce an empty line. If it still outputs a true value, I don't know
how I can really test for Truetype in Makefile.PL.
