I can't find anything in CPANPLUS that causes this, even with LML
installed.
Is there any chance this is a bleed-ism? Or something to do with the
LML version
bundled with bleed?
With 5.8.8 I seem to see a new problem, at least I cannot remember
that one:

I have version 0.7203 installed on this system.
This is a known issue of any version of version.pm < 0.73. Since it's
been
recently released, i've upped the minimal required version to 0.73 as
well.
I've also addressed your sudo report as well, i'll formally respond
to the ticket.
