Since the minutes from that meeting at YAPC seemed to focus mostly on what
people either don't like about CPAN or just wanted to rant about I wanted
to revisit the minutes from last years meeting at TPC to perhaps remind us
all that there has been some positive progress in the last year since
it would seem that CPAN is going to be the coffee mug throwing issue of
this years' conference.

Also, I have heard that the /docs section of perl.com may be updated soon
but don't know any particulars.

So, if anyone has done anything on the items listed let us know.

e.

*>* Action Items
*>
*> + use.cpan.org - Elaine Ashton

   - compromised and made a CPAN topic on use.perl.org. It seems to be an
adequate venue and scope.

*> + RFC on namespaces - Kevin Lenzo

   - ??

*> + Naming Guidelines - Jon Orwant
*> + Trademark Issues - Jon Orwant

   - ?? It would appear that Skud is now working on the former of the 2

*> + Versioning - Larry Wall

   - ??

*> + Discussion of COM's GSIDs - Gurusamy Sarathy

   - ??

*> + OSD / Cryptographic Signatures - Andreas Koenig and Graham Barr

   - ??

*> + Module Security Issues - Merijn Broeren
*> + Structuring master/subsidiary indexes, Global Distribution - Merijn Broeren

   - ??

*> + Module reviews and comparisions - Adam Turoff

   - ??

*> + Fixing the CPAN Multiplexer - Tom Christiansen

   - I don't know if the multiplexer was fixed but Ask has made a ftp and
http cluster that, so far, appears to distribute the load of the cpan
pretty well.

*> + Cleanup the CPAN Backbone - Jarkko Hietaniemi

   - http://mirror.cpan.org/ seems to be an improvement since mirrors can
register via an on-line form and check their status. The database also
generates all of the mirror related files on CPAN so there are fewer
errors. We are up to 181 mirrors and we have outstanding retention of
these mirrors.

*> + CPANTS - Michael Schwern

   - ??

*> + xx.cpan.org -> Ask Bjorn Hansen

   - I did this a while back for one mirror in each country to get an http
redirect. A few mirrors have gotten a CNAME upon request for their
mirrors as well.
