It's not clear that "public domain" is a valid legal status, particularly in many countries. C.f. http://rosenlaw.com/lj16.htm So I would rather not encode an unclear option into the META spec. The MIT license is pretty close to public domain in that it pretty much explicitly grants the necessary freedoms. -- David
