Here's a bit more info about why the widget types tool was removed:
Before, a widget type CPSFooWidgetType was instantiated in
portal_widget_types with id 'Foo Widget', and refered (in code) to
the widget class CPSFooWidget that had meta_type 'CPS Foo Widget'.
Now, we directly register CPSFooWidget through its new meta_type 'Foo
Widget'. There's no persistent reference to any meta_type.
The idea, before, was that in theory we could customize the widget
types in cps_widget_types, to have TTW variations of the same widget
type, but we actually never did it. So now the registration is direct
and we lose a useless indirection (and a useless persistent registry
that would have had to be uselessly imported/exported).
Upgrades should be mostly transparent, as I've added BBB code. If you
have an error on startup, you'll have to change the meta_type of you
Widget class to be compatible with the name with which it's refered
to by layout install configuration.
