We're moving slowly to a full CMFSetup-based mechanism... Actually I
think we'll go even further, and use the GenericSetup mechanism of
CMF 1.6.
The big advantage of GenericSetup is that importers/exporters are
easier to write, and are based on Five 1.2's adapters and on DOM
traversal.
Of course the work done for now using CMFSetup is not lost, finding
how to extract information from objects or recreate them is actually
the biggest part of the work. When the time is right (1-2 weeks max)
I'll convert what we have to this new mechanism.
(Also I don't want the Plone guys to get ahead of us ;-)
